AboutHuron Wind is Ontario's first commercial wind farm and sits on top of a long sloping bluff near the shores of Lake Huron not far from Tiverton, Ontario. We are located in an ideal spot to harness the wind. Established in November 2002, Huron Wind is comprised of five 1.8 megawatt wind turbines designed by Vestas, the world's leading supplier of wind turbines. Specifically designed for the North American market, the V80s are fully automatic and one of the world's larger commercial wind turbines. Huron Wind received its Environmental Choice certification from TerraChoice, a Canada-wide company that provides independent benchmarking for environmentally friendly products. The certificate acknowledges that Huron Wind has been inspected, audited and complies with standards that make it a provider of clean, renewable electricity. Huron Wind Limited Partnership is a joint consortium consisting of TransCanada PipeLines and OMERS.
